Do you share source files of your e-Learning deliverable with the client?
Would you share it WITHOUT additional cost? IF NOT, then how do you calculate the price?
Does a standard ratio apply?

I believe that my work for the client is considered "work for hire" and the product, including source files, belongs to the client who paid for it. I believe the quality of my work is good enough that the client will give me repeat business, whether or not they have the source files. Certain elements, however, such as graphics, are fair game for me to use again on another project in another context.

I had a client who was unhappy with the course produced by another vendor. Even though they found the end product unacceptable, they felt there were elements of it that we could reuse in the renovated course they hired me to produce. The client was further alienated from said vendor when their request for the source files was met with a demand for additional payment (which had never been mentioned before). I still got the gig, and the other vendor will never get that client's business again. My view was that the vendor was holding the client files hostage in hopes that they could get more money out of an unhappy client - not cool. Can you say, "burning bridges?" IMHO, goodwill is worth a lot more than a few extra bucks.
