The future of Flash

I have some legacy Flash projects that are up for revamp, it has simple interactive quiz type questions. If you were in my position, would you switch to HTML5?

Moreover, I am looking at interactive "games" software etc Raptivity, it's almost entirely in Flash. Would you recommend buying Raptivity? I'm really sorry to say that it's stupid for the whole world to be trying to get rid of a technology that is working well and pervasive. Many of us have invested heavily in Flash. Am I to think now that I have to avoid Flash?

Obviously, the games and fun interactive activities like crossword puzzles, etc are most suitable for Mobile devices. However, many of us invested heavily in Flash and non-technical as I am, I question if HTML5 can indeed replace Flash. I just want to hear your views.

Brendan Strong said: I'm in a similar position, using Articulate software. I'm now looking at their Storyline and Articulate Studio 12 products (both of which promise to export to HTML5/iPad app). Personally, I like the way their quizzes and interactivities can be customised to suit your need. They are also very easy to learn and master.

Flash does have a few miles left on the clock, but unless Adobe can do something about the chew up of system resources and make it more friendly so that iOS will allow it, I do think its days will be numbered.

HTML5 has many, many benefits over Flash as it stands. It is completely open, which means more content can be more easily developed using it, and also more devices will be able to run it. It also is not as resource-intensive as Flash (which means it will be quicker to run and where used on mobile, consume less battery) One of its key problems right now is that it is still a "moving target", so not every device will work with every feature. However, that is sure to be resolved in time.

To your original question - I would use one of these Articulate products to create your quiz. Right now, you can publish to Flash, but then you will also have the option of publishing to HTML5 in the future.
