Business Continuity Planning and Training

Business continuity planning (BCP) is a process that helps an organization recover from a major disruption. The goal of BCP is to minimize the impact of an interruption to business operations. BCP includes procedures and policies for dealing with unexpected events such as natural disasters, power outages, cyber-attacks, and pandemics.

A BCP plan typically includes a risk assessment, which identifies potential threats to the business and the likelihood of those threats occurring. The risk assessment is used to develop mitigation strategies, which are designed to reduce the impact of a disruption. The mitigation strategies are then tested through exercises and simulations.

BCP training is essential to ensure that employees know how to implement the plan and understand their roles in the event of a major disruption. BCP training should be conducted on a regular basis, and employees should be given the opportunity to practice their skills in a safe and controlled environment.

The Business Continuity and Resiliency Management (BCRM) Program trains and educates the company workforce on the importance of business continuity planning and resiliency management and helps ensure that FEMA’s mission-critical functions are continued during and after an incident.

While BRCCI has a long history of attempting to maintain its mission-critical functions during and after an incident, its current BCRM Program is the first comprehensive attempt to ensure the continuance of its strategic operations through an all-hazards approach.

The goal is to minimize the operational disruption to its mission due to any event that could adversely affect its ability to perform its mission.
