Yvette Colbert is an experienced, dedicated, and enthusiastic English teacher to non-native English language learners who has taught English to men and women from South Korea, China, Italy, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, France, French-speaking countries in Western Africa, Spanish-speaking countries in South America, and learners from countries in Central Europe. She also spent three and a half years living and teaching Business English in Japan.
After spending 20 years working in corporate environments including customer service, hospitality, and government service, Yvette developed a strong work ethic and a love for communication. In addition to running hotels and training all hotel employees, she has conducted seminars on how to write résumés, motivating employees, creating better customer service experiences, serving guests with disabilities, training and retraining team members as well as technical seminars on using property management systems. She also has an extensive background in coaching owners and operators in sales, marketing, operations, and revenue management. She shares this experience with her students to enhance their learning and understanding of American business culture.
Upon entering the English language education industry full-time, Yvette quickly advanced in her field from instructing to assessing and evaluating learners for placement and mentoring new and developing English language instructors to promote professional growth and enhance their teaching skills.
Yvette is a certified Teacher of English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) and a certified Business English instructor. Additionally, she has a master’s degree in Business Administration and a master’s degree in Education with a special focus in TEFL. She has recently completed a master’s certificate in Instructional Design.
