What is McGraw-Hill Connect LMS?

McGraw-Hill Connect is a digital teaching and learning system built and developed for both educators and students in higher education institutions. It is described as a robust and flexible toolkit, saving teachers and students time and helping them improve learning outcomes.

The system is using an adaptive technology, which enables students to retain the concepts they know and identify the concepts they don’t know. It also helps them manage their assignments and record lectures to maximize learning opportunities. Students can access their assignments, quizzes, and learning materials from their tablets using the McGraw-Hill Connect app.

McGraw-Hill Connect helps teachers develop course curriculum from a library of resources prepared by subject matter experts and academic researchers. They can also access reports and insights in order for them to understand the learning curve of their classes and students. The toolkit allows them to share course content and assignments with their colleagues. It is a functionality that enables educators to modify content  to promote consistency across sections or classes.

Overview of McGraw-Hill Connect LMS benefits

McGraw-Hill Connect is designed to provide opportunities for students to improve their grades. It functions primarily as an e-Learning system, ensuring that students will be able to use learning materials that meet the highest academic standards.

To achieve this goal, McGraw-Hill Connect is ultimately phasing out the use of textbooks. It offers SmartBook. SmartBook is the name of McGraw-Hill Connect’s digital version of a course textbook. It is similar to an eBook; but it is more flexible than a typical eBook, in the sense that, it has the capability to tailor its content to fit the needs of a student. SmartBook helps students retain key concepts; however, its objective is to promote learning, not memorization.  It also provides students the ability to focus on concepts that they don’t know; so that  they they will be able to prioritize them in their study time.

If McGraw-Hill Connect is eliminating the use of textbooks as learning resources for students; on the side of teachers, the system is eliminating the use of paper-based filing of course materials. Assignments, quizzes, course content, and reports are all organised and consolidated in a single digital platform. In preparing course content, educators no longer need to visit multiple websites. In addition, they won’t be needing folders to keep their class records and learning resources. Hence, they will be able to devote more time in teaching their students.
