The University of Notre Dame (http://ND.jobs) is accepting applications for a Digital Learning Designer (Limited Term).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Create engaging instructional materials, learning activities, and assessments that improve student learning experiences and learning outcomes
• Work with faculty to identify learning goals and objectives
• Serve as a liaison between the office and other academic departments within the University
• Conduct original research and analysis on learners, design approaches, and outcomes
• Apply tested learning design theories, practice, and methodologies
• Collaborate with media specialists in the planning of visual content
• Use the evaluation of learners' experiences and outcomes to employ design improvements
• Successfully complete project deliverables on time and within budget in coordination with project managers

Minimum Qualifications:

• Degree in learning design, educational technology, or similar
• Experience in the application of learning theories and learning design models
• Experience with current research in the sciences of learning
• Excellent communication skills & ability to thrive in a collaborative environment
• Working knowledge of Learning Management Systems

Preferred Qualifications:

• 3 or more years of professional experience in learning design, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or related field
• Experience creating and integrating digital content in quantitative and technical areas
• Experience working with cloud-based systems (Amazon AWS, Google Cloud, etc.)
• Familiarity with programming languages such as: Python, Ruby, Javascript, etc.

Preferred candidates will have either disciplinary training or work experience in the fields of mathematics, statistics, computer sciences, or other quantitative/technical academic fields. The successful candidate will be fluent in the use of evidence-based methodologies for technology-enhanced learning, informed by current research, and committed to creative collaboration within a team context. The digital learning designer will be expected to bring her or his professional experience to bear within the University community, and work closely with faculty and staff to advance the conversation around effective teaching and learning on campus. Most work is project-based and collaborative; the designer will be part of a team comprised of faculty, animators and filmmakers, project managers, and researchers.
