The Clinical Support System for Serious Mental Illness (CSS-SMI), also known as SMI Adviser, is a 5-year SAMHSA funded initiative to support implementation of evidence-based, person-centered pharmacological and psychosocial interventions for individuals with serious mental illness (SMI) including those with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and recurrent major depression. The grant creates a national resource center for clinicians (physicians, nurses, psychologists, social workers, recovery coaches, and others) where they can receive individual consultation, evidence-based education, and access to technology to enhance service delivery.

Oversee, develop, and maintain the catalog of SMI Adviser's online coursesPartner with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and other care team members and allied organizations, and staff to develop content for courses
Develop and execute workflows for launching accredited activities in APA's Learning Center
Produce online courses in a variety of formats such as presentation capture, multi-part courses, self-assessments, performance in practice, pulsed learning exams, communities/learning collaboratives, question banks, and/or discussion boards
Use established methodologies in all instructional design stages, including needs assessment and ADDIE and/or SAM methodologies.
Create consistent yet creative aesthetics within interactive elements
Develop project plans under the review of SMI Adviser leadership which ensures the grant meets established milestones and remains within budget
Apply quality control standards to the design, execution, and maintenance of online courses
Ensure adherence to ACCME and other accrediting body criteria for online education in conjunction with the Division of Educations CME Team
Build and maintain internal and external vendor relationships, and existing vendor relationships to ensure external solutions are designed as intended
Produce regular reports of Learning Center activity and transmit relevant user data to external groups per grant, contract, and accreditation requirements (e.g., SAMSHA, AACME, ABPN, AAAP)
Troubleshoot technical issues related to the LMS and create/track debugging tickets for LMS vendor, question bank vendor, and APA's IT Department
In conjunction with departmental leadership, contribute to thought leadership on instructional design, best practices, and implementation of blended learning programs.
Collaborate with others to create prototypes, iterate, and seek feedback from product owners, team members, and other stakeholders throughout the design process
Interact with outside technology vendors related to special projects to ensure adherence to timeline, budget, and project deliverables
Troubleshoot technological issues related to the projects educational activities and track/solve issues through direct customer services or by working with appropriate vendors.
5-8 years of experience in online learning management and/or instructional design
Experience with managing complex projects with demonstrated success in meeting deadlines, managing vendors, and managing related budgets.
Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills; ability to set priorities, multitask, and meet deadlines on multiple, concurrent projects
Bachelors degree required; Masters in educational technology or related discipline is preferred
Experience working in and/or with grants is preferred
Experience with adult educational and/or healthcare programs is preferred
Excellent communicator capable of providing leadership to individuals and groups
Self-motivated, able to work independently, and shows attention to detail
Knowledge of how websites operate (i.e., databases, APIs, and content management systems)
Demonstrated experience with computer-based and/or software-as-a-service (SaaS) tools such as Salesforce, HTML, Captivate, Articulate Storyline 2, Articulate Replay, Microsoft 365, Adobe Premier, Vimeo, and/or other graphic and media design/production tool
