The Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC), headquartered in Crystal City/Arlington, VA, is seeking an Instructional Design Manager to enhance the quality of APIC’s educational activities through research, development, and implementation of initiatives. APIC offers a generous post-COVID telecommute policy with the opportunity to work from home. Applications accepted from candidates who reside in DC, VA, and MD only.

This position works with subject matter experts (SMEs) and staff to manage the design, development, and evaluation of instructionally sound, innovative, and engaging content for virtual, online, and in-person delivery. This position has high visibility and significant interaction with members.

Responsibilities

As the Instructional Design Manager, you will enhance the quality of APIC’s educational activities and support related products and services.  This position works with subject matter experts (SMEs) and staff to manage the design, development, and evaluation of instructionally sound, innovative, and engaging content for virtual, online, and in-person delivery.  This position has high visibility and significant interaction with members.

Qualifications

Qualified candidates will have a bachelor’s degree in instructional design, instructional technology, or virtual instruction, or an equivalent combination of related education and work experience.  This position requires a minimum of three years of related experience managing the design, development, delivery, and evaluation of virtual education projects, including at least two years of experience designing asynchronous virtual education.  APIC is seeking applicants with strong technical acumen and experience with leading edge computer-based tools in the development and delivery of online and in-person education. 

 

Qualified applicants will also be proficient in learning management systems (experience with Crowd Wisdom and Elevate is a plus) and advanced knowledge and proficiency with visual design skills (InDesign, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Illustrator, Articulate 360, specifically Storyline 360).  Knowledge of HTML, XML, and various internet applications as well as experience in health-care related learning is preferred.
