Responsibilities

 At ASME, a Senior Learning Experience Designer is responsible for course development, deployment, and maintenance. More importantly a Senior Learning Experience Designer creates engaging, real-world, high-quality learning experiences that delight learners and bring them back again and again.

The Senior Learning Experience Designer mentors peers, establishes best-practices, templates, and procedures, and acts as an onsite team lead for our New York-based Learning Experience team.

The Learning Experience team works with amazing Engineering Subject Matter Experts to develop fun, modern modules and courses, and also oversees the design and creation of content by vendors. We’re looking to grow our team with highly motivated and energetic people who have the right balance of leadership, skills, and personality that will help bring ASME learning offerings up and over the high bar we’re setting for ourselves.

Working with the Manager of Learning Experience, the Senior Learning Experience Designer will lead and develop ASME learning solutions, courses and programs, and content, and maintain/revise existing course material and programs as needed. 

Qualifications

The ideal candidate must have a Masters’ degree or equivalent additional experience in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Learning Science, or a closely related field, with at least five years’ experience of successful eLearning course and program development and implementation.

In addition, this candidate must have:

  • High level of comfort working with engineering SMEs and complicated, technical concepts and processes
  • Familiarity with multiple instructional design approaches
  • Experience writing competencies and developing curriculum and assessment for competency-based education
  • Strong understanding of the needs of adult/professional learners
  • Experience with 508 compliance and WCAG
  • Familiarity with agile project management
  • Demonstrated ability with rapid prototyping, beta testing, and peer reviews
  • Eye for good UX/UI
  • Experience with Design Thinking methodology and data-driven decision making
  • Ability to convey complex technical information and processes with clarity in multiple modalities (written, visual, etc.)
  • Knowledge of various virtual classroom applications, graphic tools, and other Web authoring software
  • Proficiency with MS Office, especially PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook
  • Familiarity with multiple LMSs/CMSs with strong experience in at least one modern LMS
  • Portfolio demonstrating mastery of Articulate tools (Storyline, Rise, etc.)
