This Countdown to DevLearn webinar was created to help you advance your skills in the management, design, and development of technology-based learning—and to give you a taste of what you’ll see in Las Vegas this October!

YouTube is the second-largest search engine in the world. Each day more people watch YouTube videos than CBS, NBC, ABC, and Fox combined. Thousands are finding success teaching on YouTube—and millions are learning. However, few learning and development organizations have ventured into the YouTube space and the few that have found success elusive. Many of them have made awkward attempts to be successful on YouTube, only to have written off the platform in frustration as a channel only targeted at the younger demographics. (Hint: It's not). How do learning and development organizations crack the YouTube code and find success on this popular platform? How can YouTube be used to train internal and external stakeholders? Most importantly, how can learning pros take advantage of the tremendous opportunities afforded by YouTube? The answers are in this session.

In the learning world, some successful YouTubers have reached more learners than ever thought possible. Channels like Ted-Ed, Med School Insiders, and National Geographic have promoted their brands while educating millions. Individual instructors like Andy Guitar have earned hundreds of thousands of dollars educating in the YouTube space. So what is the difference between success and failure on YouTube? Can I (or my company or brand) become an influencer? Success comes in understanding two things: First, YouTube, as media, is different than television or movies. Second, YouTube analytics are the path to success for you and your organization.

In this session, facilitated by a YouTube partner and six-figure YouTube earner, you'll learn how to take advantage of the unique YouTube medium. You'll understand how to grow your community of viewers and why the YouTube algorithm favors those who do. You'll also take a deep dive into YouTube analytics and understand how to align your brand's videos with the metrics that equate to YouTube success. You'll understand how and why helping YouTube succeed helps your channel succeed. After this session, you'll be prepared to revise everything from your YouTube channel art to your video format. You'll feel confident tracking the important analytics for your channel and be able to engineer predictable, steady growth of your channel for you and your learning organization.

In this session, you will learn:

  • How YouTube is used within learning organizations
  • How YouTube is used to train external stakeholders
  • How to develop your channel brand
  • Why and which YouTube analytics you should be monitoring
  • How to grow a community on YouTube and engage that community to grow your channel
  • How to plan successful videos
  • How to test video titles and artwork
  • Why YouTube can become a key channel for your learning organization
