SeLC 2015: "Generation Y - Learning for new generations"
A huge change is happening in companies and organizations. A new generation of employees is entering the field, and requires nothing less than "a new world of work" (Die Zeit, 10.3.2014). The people of this new generation Y have been born approximately between the years 1980 and 2000, have grown up with the digitization of society and will in the near future take over key positions in the companies. Their attitude towards work, performance and lifestyle is influenced by the "multi-option society" (Peter Gross, 1994), a world in which everything is possible, in which prosperity and peace are reigning, and the whole world is only one click away. For members of this generation, fun and meaningfulness of their actions is more important than reaching performance benchmarks and business goals. Material incentives often motivate less than freedom in their job. Companies need skilled workers and appreciate their quick and competent use of technology, especially in the area of mobile technologies. But the integration in the traditional corporate culture is anything but easy.
What does the SeLC 2015 want to achieve?
The SeLC 2015 wants to start a professional dialogue on about a topic that usually has no place in the hustle and bustle of everyday life, namely to get to know the work attitudes of the different generations and to create suitable conditions for a productive, collaborative, networked and transparent working and learning. Those who master this task has also mastered a lesson in preparing for future change situations, not only those that are due to generational change.

he conference attendees can practice and learn how to operate a constructive generation management and which business and process architectures will be necessary.
The SeLC 2015 has set itself a challenging goal with the title "Learning Generation Y - Learning for the new generations": It wants to
- enable the conference participants to get to know and understand employees of the Generation Y in terms of their work and learning habits, values and attitudes. [Input, lectures / presentations; joint work and exercises]
- provide examples and recommendations on how work and learning should be designed for them. [Benchmarks, best practices]
- evaluate digital tools, systems and processes in terms of their suitability for Generation Y. [Concrete demos; Workshop & Hands-on part]
