SmarterMedium Announces Their New Online Course, Four Weeks To Work

HULL, MA, March 1 - SmarterMedium announces the newest addition to their catalog of online courses, Four Weeks to Work, a preboarding learning experience for organizations to deploy that is focused on improving the new-hire onboarding experience. The Four Weeks to Work learning experience concentrates on preboarding, where understanding, confidence, and momentum are critical to the initial success of the new-hire and manager. Uniquely, Four Weeks to Work presents both the manager and new-hire storylines together to enhance understanding by providing perspective on the critical time period from offer acceptance to the first day (typically four weeks). The course is designed for organizations to brand and integrate into their onboarding program and is available now for customization and tailored delivery.

Four Weeks to Work is a preboarding program that is presented in fourteen short, story vignettes that showcase both the new-hires’ and the manager’s storyline side by side. For the prospective employee, accepting an offer sets off a sequence of events over the next month that will shape and alter their routines and habits, their career, and even their identity. Four Weeks to Work leverages this storyline to provide support and assistance to the new employee in a form with which they will readily identify and can better assist the employee with their first day and improve his/her performance start. For the manager, the preboarding four-week wait time is recast alongside the employee’s journey by providing knowledge and coaching to prep them for their arrival.

“The juxtaposition of the two storylines provides the preboarding perspective for the new hire and the manager”, said Mike O’Brien, President, SmarterMedium, “while including resources, practice elements, lists, and important points to consider in order to maximize the potential for success”.

Four Weeks to Work communicates that the new-hire can expect support, and a commitment to Learning and Development, easing common transition anxieties. The organization is able to transition the momentum from interviewing into a successful first day that ultimately leads to career-long performance and development.

“By mirroring the organization’s perspective with the new hire’s perspective in a single storyline, each has access to the insights needed for a mutually successful performance start”, said O’Brien.

The course experience is rounded out with inspiring quotes and thought-provoking content from today’s business leaders and innovative thinkers. Leveraging an always-on approach, the learner can reach social channels inside the course, such as live Twitter feeds, videos and even suggested playlists and podcasts. New-hires can use any device with internet connectivity to access and progress through the course at a self-directed pace, either all at once or repeatedly, as a check-in, over the four weeks. The course can be hosted through the corporate LMS, hosted externally via LMS, or provided via web hosting.
