Instructure And Kimono In A New Partnership

Instructure and Kimono are pleased to announce a partnership that bridges the student information systems (SIS) gap for Canvas users by providing them with a comprehensive integration solution.

The new partnership solves the problem of keeping customers’ course data and rosters synchronized between their SIS and Canvas, and enables Canvas customers to do things not possible with other integration options, such as enabling grade passback and supporting customized configurations by school building.

SIS integration through Kimono has always been available to Canvas users as a premium option, but this new partnership will enable all Canvas users to take advantage of Kimono’s iPaaS (integration platform as a service) for no additional cost.

“Data and application integration is a complex problem, so we wanted a partner with deep education data expertise and a cloud-based platform that supports multiple standards and integration methods. This ensures that our customers will have a powerful solution that can grow with them,” said Mitch Benson, vice president of Canvas product and strategy.

In addition to integrating their SIS, Canvas customers can opt to extend the integration, for an additional cost, to connect other applications, such as Google’s G Suite, Follett Destiny or hundreds of other applications that support SIF, OneRoster, LIS, or CSV integrations. “Kimono’s open, standards-based approach, managed through a single platform, allows customers to rapidly accelerate the inclusion of new apps and services as their ecosystems evolve,” said Steve Curtis, CEO at Kimono.
