What do you like best? SumTotal can deliver an enterprise-grade learning management system for a broad spectrum of industries, such as healthcare, aviation, finance, etc. With its platform, HR and learning managers can easily track employee growth, conduct compliance training, and store certifications. The software is alsocustomizable, allowing organizations to tailor the system to comply with internal policies and corporate goals, which makes it useful for career development as well as strategic learning initiatives.
What do you dislike? The only drawback is its complexity, which makes it a time-consuming task to onboard the new administrators into the system. Users experience some glitches in the app, and some of its features are not always intuitive. There are learning and supporting materials; however, at times, the suggestions by the support staff are inadequate, necessitating an escalation or the use of an external reference.

What do you like best? A very flexible platform for varied learning and talent management needs. The features enable administrators to create and implement courses quickly, monitor employee progress, and maintain performance in a single system. Perfect for very large organizations needing customizable learning paths and very detailed reporting. It's the scalability that users love, as well as the seamless integration with other enterprise tools.
What do you dislike? SumTotal provides a full range of features for any company in need of an LMS, but it can be overwhelming for new users, as its learning curve can be rather steep. Finding specific tools quickly can prove difficult, as the backend navigation can be less than intuitive. Moreover, the UI works, but lacks a contemporary appeal, which could lessen user interaction. Technical problems are occasionally slow to resolve as support responses can be delayed.

Highly customizable LMS platform for large organizations seeking advanced functionality

What do you like best? SumTotal excels at being configured to the specific needs of organizations that have multi-faceted learning and compliance needs. At its core, elements such as auto-generated learning paths, comprehensive talent management, and progress tracking help streamline workforce development programs. It is designed for multinational corporations and heavily regulated industries that require compliance tracking, and offers scalability and the ability to handle large volumes of learners.
What do you dislike? The very high feature density makes it overwhelming for new users. And some features take multiple clicks before being revealed, which slows down your daily administrative tasks. Some users have mentioned sporadic bugs in the platform and slow response times when reaching out to customer support. Overall, although the system has excellent functionality, it could be more intuitive and offer a more modernized way to navigate through the system to create a better user experience.

What do you like best? SumTotal has advanced reporting and analytics capabilities, allowing organizations to get granular insights into learning patterns, compliance adherence, and skill development of employees. It includes various types of course formats, certifications, and performance management features, allowing organizations to use it for all corporate learning needs.
What do you dislike? The multitude of functions causes confusion, and the UI is also cluttered, making navigation less intuiative. Some users have reported occasional performance lags and difficulties in troubleshooting technical issues without external help. The software’s design is functional but not always user-friendly, especially for non-technical staff, which can result in longer adoption times across departments.

Feature-rich LMS with strong integration capabilities but learning curve challenges

What do you like best? SumTotal offers an extensive suite of tools for learning management, employee development, and performance tracking. This adaptability lends itself to other similar integrations with enterprise software, allowing HR teams to manage the constant pool of data spread across platforms while enabling customized learning paths and performance dashboards.
What do you dislike? Thanks to that complexity, it can be hard for newcomers to get started, with some workflows requiring somewhat nuanced knowledge to use efficiently. There are some glitches in the app and delays in customer response, which make the process slow. Additionally, the visual layout and user interface feel outdated, and some advanced functionalities require extensive training or guidance to utilize effectively, which may hinder initial adoption for smaller teams.
