Discussing The Ways eLearning Improves Leadership Development

Today, nearly everyone knows that workplace diversity improves organizational outcomes. The modern workplace contains many unique leadership challenges, including racial, sexual, education and cultural differences. With the right leadership skills, however, senior executives can address these issues and improve workplace performance.

Through diversity, organizations have access to a wider range of talent. A diverse pool of staff members helps organizations better understand the needs of varied consumers. Furthermore, studies show that diversity ultimately makes organizations more effective and prosperous.

Today’s Diverse Workplace

Most modern enterprises want to promote diversity. Today’s business leaders understand the value and potential of a diversified talent pool. Despite this, few succeed. Apparently, most enterprises fail to truly align diversity initiatives with organizational objectives.

The only way that executives can achieve the desired outcome, however, is to first define it. Therefore, for a diversity initiative to succeed, organizational leaders must clearly define goals to meet this outcome.

Who's In The Workplace

In the United States, 69% of the male working population is active in the workforce, while the same applies to 57% of women. More than 70% of Caucasian males are active in the working population, while a little over 60% of the African-American population participate in the workforce.

Among the aging population, 73% participate in America’s labor pool, while approximately 75% of the Hispanic population is active in the workforce. Among these workers, a little over 80% are between the ages of 25 and 54 years old.

Because of the many age gaps, education and ethnic differences in the modern workplace, contemporary leaders face unique challenges compared to their predecessors. Resultantly, modern executives must find new ways to effectively lead organizational talent. With sincerity and the right skills, however, competent leaders can find effective ways to address diversity in the workplace and improve organizational performance.

Advantages Of Diversity

To understand how executives view workplace diversity, the survey leaders asked them about their understanding of the concept. 55% of executives expressed that diversity is a mixture of individuals, backgrounds, ethnicities, and cultures – while 39% expanded on that definition to include age, gender, and disabilities – who work together to achieve a unified objective.

Among United States organizations that maintain diversity programs, 92% of hiring executives interviewed in a recent survey believe that upper management supports the initiative. Furthermore, 65% of respondents expressed that their diversity initiatives were successful. Among job seekers, the survey revealed that 91% feel that diversity programs create improved work environments.

Furthermore, 97% of minorities revealed that they would prefer to work in a diverse workplace. The same percentage expressed that opportunities for advancement are important.

The Challenges Of Globalization

Every day, the global marketplace gets smaller. In a sense, international commerce is increasingly becoming a unified environment.

In the United States, for example, 54% of all enterprises participate in foreign markets. Furthermore, 80% of surveyed executives believe that international expansion is essential for long-term, sustainable growth.

While diversity benefits any organization, there are other factors that enterprise leaders must consider when expanding into international markets.

As an example, 89% of surveyed corporate representatives consider political stability when deciding whether to operate in a foreign territory. 82% take into account a nation’s core infrastructure, while the same percentage expresses that trade regulations and tariffs weigh heavily in deciding whether to do business in another country.

Additionally, 80% of executives expressed that the ability to enforce contracts expeditiously is highly important when considering where to conduct commerce.

How eLearning Bridges The Gaps

The success of digital learning programs has changed the perspectives of organizational leaders about online learning. Today, eLearning is widely accepted as an effective tool to train workers. Furthermore, the resource allows training specialists to customize training material that is uniquely suited for diverse teams. In an environment where businesses must adapt quickly, it’s also an empowering tool that helps organizations keep pace with changing trends.

eLearning resources enable business leaders to effectively collaborate with team members and share their knowledge with personnel. Furthermore, the tool empowers them to maintain service or product quality, while reducing costs and time to market for new products. Overall, eLearning resources help organizations manage training more effectively and respond to changing market needs faster than ever before.

Now, diversification is a vital component of organizational success. However, building a diversified work environment is challenging. Still, the rewards far outweigh the work required to meet this objective.

Resultantly, corporate diversity and career training are growing increasingly invaluable for modern organizations. eLearning helps business leaders meet both objectives.

Over time, executives will overcome the growing pains of building a diversified workforce. Then, their organizations will reap the rewards of long-term, sustainable growth.
