Reporting to the Director of Blended Learning, the Academic Technologist Manager supervises the Academic Technology and Learning lab and provides expertise and support for the use of academic technology by faculty and staff in online and on-campus programs. This position works collaboratively with the Instructional Design and Information Technology staff to facilitate the effective adoption and ongoing use of academic technologies, including Learning Management Systems, web conferencing platforms, and multimedia authoring tools. This individual manages relationships with vendors, the academic technology budget, and the classroom technology. Also, the individual sets priorities, provides guidance and leadership for the department.
Bachelor’s degree in education, computer science, communication, multimedia, or other related fields; Master’s degree preferred; minimum 3-7 years of experience in higher education, IT support, multimedia, online teaching, technology training or building and managing online courses; foundational knowledge of Instructional Design, universal design principles, and online learning best practices; ability to manage the budget; strong interpersonal and managerial skills; strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to organize and prioritize tasks; and ability and willingness to learn new software independently and make recommendations to the director.
Successful candidates will have knowledge of and demonstrated experience in the use of Apple, PC, and mobile devices, Microsoft Office Suite, Panopto recording, zoom, multimedia authoring and editing software (Camtasia preferred), and supporting and using Learning Management Systems (Canvas Lean preferred). Articulate Storyline and Studio experience a plus.
