Responsibilities
  • Actively participate in the maintenance and development of award-winning interactive learning programs. 
  • Working closely with Kantola product leadership, contribute to course design and development from start to finish with a primary focus on developing and maintaining documentation of instructional content; also support research, design, and writing of compelling instructional content, including instructional interactivity. 
  • Closely collaborate with senior instructional designer to determine instructional strategies and modalities that meet customer and learner needs. 
  • Design interactive exercises to support defined learning objectives. 
  • Collaborate with other instructional designers as well as Kantola scriptwriters and video production partners to create best-of-breed dramatic video content; using instructional methodologies, help create detailed specifications for rich media content for use in our programs. 
  • Develop and maintain storyboards and other course documentation as needed.
  • Work closely with course developers to build interactive learning programs. 
  • Participate in review and QA processes to ensure consistency of instructional content.
  • Support course maintenance and customization efforts, and perform additional duties as needed.
Qualifications
  • Strong belief in core Kantola products and mission, with demonstrated commitment to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion. 
  • Excellent writing skills; the ideal candidate is comfortable with rough first drafts and imperfect sentences to enable forward movement, but also has extremely high-quality standards for the finished work product. 
  • BA, BFA, or BS degree, or equivalent experience in instructional design, writing, or an instructional/teaching/academic background.

  • Willing to immerse yourself in areas beyond your knowledge or expertise, with a strong aptitude for getting up to speed quickly on difficult, complex social and legal topics. 
  • Comfortable taking on new tasks and performing work beyond your job description.
  • An excellent communicator and collaborator; team player comfortable with constructive conflict and criticism.

Location

The position is based in the Bay Area. Our offices are located just across Golden Gate bridge in downtown Mill Valley, CA. During the COVID-19 pandemic, this position will be full-time remote. Once we return to working in the office, this position can remain partially remote, although regular trips to the office will be required. Some travel is also required.
