What You Will Do

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Associate Professor/ Ahorangi Tuarua within the School of Educational Studies and Leadership to lead and contribute to teaching in the areas of digital education futures, e-learning, blended learning, digital pedagogies, and learning analytics. This appointment aligns with the University of Canterbury's commitment to the strategic priority of 'Educating for the Future', including the commitment to using technologies to create educational opportunities within and beyond Aotearoa New Zealand.

Qualifications

Applicants will have a proven record in technology-enhanced learning and digital pedagogies or related areas. Applicants will hold an earned Doctorate and will be able to contribute research related to UC's renowned e-learning Research Lab founded by retiring Distinguished Professor Niki Davis. A demonstrated and sustained record of teaching excellence is also required. With a strong research profile and demonstrated expertise, applicants will contribute in areas relevant to the School of Educational Studies and Leadership, such as:

  • education futures
  • tertiary / higher education
  • educational assessment
  • social justice and equity of access
  • digital citizenship and digital activism
Who You Are

Candidates will be expected to:

  • develop and lead research projects in their specialist area(s), including supporting collaborators
  • supervise postgraduate research students
  • lead and contribute to teaching - including flexible and blended learning options—in both national and international contexts
  • lead course, programme and organisational development

It is desirable that candidates are able to demonstrate a good understanding of the educational sector, as well as an understanding of, or willingness to understand, the obligations created by the Treaty of Waitangi / te Tiriti o Waitangi.
