The Director of Multimedia (Instructional) Design and Learning will collaborate with business leaders, subject matter experts, and Learning and Development to create engaging and impactful learning solutions/content that contribute to business outcomes. The Director of Multimedia Design and Learning will manage all aspects of the content development and design process inclusive of needs analysis, project planning and management, vendor management, development, design, stakeholder review, outcome assessment, and ROI analysis. Content must be mobile ready and implemented through various mediums, including interactive eLearning, video, webinars, instructor-led classes and podcast and will contribute to curriculum development and stand-alone offerings.

  • Conduct needs and gap analysis to formulate content design and development strategies.
  • Evaluate existing learning programs to identify effectiveness and recommend necessary enhancements.
  • Incorporate proven adult learning theory and principles when designing and developing all training and learning activities.
  • Design, develop and author highly effective, results driven curricula and stand-alone training programs to support the organization’s learning and development needs.
  • Partner with appropriate business leaders, subject matter experts and Learning and Development team to identify and implement results driven learning programs that leverage a variety of modalities.
  • Determine and recommend appropriate delivery approaches and methodologies (e.g., ILT, VLT, eLearning, video, infographics) to achieve desired results.
  • Work independently to meet deadlines, while developing relationships and collaborating with business leaders and subject matter experts to obtain input and validate course design and content.
  • Utilize project management skills, tools and techniques to define, support and meet project milestones, communicate issues and risks in a timely manner, and escalate to business leaders as necessary.
  • Prioritize the demands of competing development efforts, while meeting deadlines and demonstrating effective decision-making skills.
  • Act as project manager for external content developers to ensure that projects are delivered at the desired level, on time and within budget.
  • Solicit feedback on program effectiveness, measure results and return on investment for key learning initiatives. Share findings with business leaders through quarterly Learning and Development Scorecard.
  • Serve as an innovative change agent for continuous improvement in learning solutions through improved/enhanced methodologies.
  • Bachelor’s degree and/or master’s degree preferably in adult education, educational technology, instructional design or associated field. ATD’s Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP) preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of hands-on instructional design and content development for multiple media; experience with curricula design is required.
  • 3+ years of experience leading content developers and/or vendors to deliver large, complex (sales training, onboarding programs) learning and development instructional design initiatives and/or curriculum development projects.
  • High proficiency in common authoring tools and course development methodologies, i.e. Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, Adobe Creative Cloud, and Snagit
  • Advanced ability to develop multimedia output (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Audition, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator) and expand use of these technologies
  • Design/development experience for web (HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript), CMS, mobile devices, a plus.
  • Highly proficient in use of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
