The School is searching for a Director of Instructional Design and Distance Learning. While working with the Assistant Dean of the School of Graduate Studies, this position will provide instructional and program design expertise for the development and support of online courses and specialized educational programs for the School of Graduate Studies. In addition, this position will be responsible for guiding and supporting faculty in the design of online coursework/programs and instructional practices, development of learning resources, and the revision of current courses and course segments for new delivery methods.

Responsibilities

While working with the Assistant Dean of the School of Graduate Studies, this position will provide instructional and program design expertise for the development and support of online courses and specialized educational programs for the School of Graduate Studies.  In addition, this position will be responsible for guiding and supporting faculty in the design of online coursework/programs and instructional practices, development of learning resources, and the revision of current courses and course segments for new delivery methods.

The successful candidate will identify and lead in the development of instructional strategies in support of faculty selected course materials, course objectives, and assessment techniques for curriculum digitization and online learning assets; identify, evaluate, and recommend external vendors to support online learning initiatives; research and make recommendations on online educational best practices, instructional resources, and instructional technologies to support teaching and learning; provide consultation and support for faculty as they integrate instructional technologies into their teaching in face-to-face and online courses; and identify appropriate instructional strategies and define learning objectives appropriate to graduate level curriculum.

 

Qualifications

A Bachelor’s Degree in instructional design, education, teaching, or a related field with eight years’ experience in instructional technology, online education, or curriculum design, both face-to-face and online, or a Master’s Degree in instructional design, education, teaching, or a related field with five years’ experience in instructional technology, online education, or curriculum design, both face to face and online, is required.  The successful candidate must be familiar with processes and standards for planning and implementing instructional design and development; have solid knowledge of course development software and at a minimum one learning management system; ability to organize and work effectively with an understanding of organizational policies and activities; experience with graphic and multimedia authoring software and website design software; and proficiency in communication, both oral and written.
