The eLearning Media Producer is accountable for the production of the College’s instructional and promotional videos including creating and editing audio, video, and motion graphics to be used in the College’s course offerings. The role includes collaborating with Instructional Designers, eLearning Developers, and subject matter experts on online course projects to develop quality multimedia that support active learning.

Responsibilities
  • Advising project team members on the most effective ways to tell a visual story that will engage learners 
  • Collaborating with project teams to develop pedagogically sound video content based on best practices for online learning
  • Supporting faculty with video production and captioning activities and/or audio recording including liaising with eLearning Developers, work-study students, and external services
  • Coordinating with Instructional Designers and subject matter experts on pre-production activities
  • Creating and maintaining production schedules; distributing call sheets and shot lists
  • Presenting visual interpretation of requirements to team members, explaining design rationale, and seeking creative feedback
  • Transporting, preparing, and operating all video, lighting, and audio equipment for off-site video production
  • Interacting and directing actors, subject matter experts, and volunteers throughout video production
  • Promoting a positive studio recording environment for subject matter expert talent and the Online Learning Centre team
  • Planning and performing video post-production tasks such as reviewing footage, making editorial decisions, rough cuts, audio adjustment, colour correction, AODA compliance, music selection, after effects, video compression, etc.
  • Performing routine equipment maintenance and making recommendations for software and equipment
  • Communicating regularly with members of the project team, providing development updates, coordinating meetings, etc.
  • Maintaining an asset library with versioning control and established naming conventions
  • Establishing standards for use of multimedia in online courses
  • Collaborating with faculty, eLearning Developers, and Graphic Designers on designing and creating motion graphics for video deliverables
  • Editing and adding effects/elements to enhance motion graphics
  • Providing consultations, training, and guidance (one-to-one meetings or group sessions) on the use of multimedia in web-enhanced, hybrid, and fully online courses while recognizing and adapting to different levels of computer proficiency
  • Delivers demonstrations on the effective use of equipment, such as a lightboard, to create multimedia learning objects
Qualifications
  • Two-year Diploma or equivalent in Broadcast Television and Independent Production, Interactive Media Management – Interaction Design, Video Production, Multimedia Design, or a related discipline
  • Three years of demonstrated experience producing and editing audio, video, and visual effects is required, preferably in an educational environment
  • Experience using multimedia software applications: Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere Pro, and After Effects), Final Cut Pro, and Adobe Captivate
  • Advanced skills with DSLR and 360 camera operations for video and still photography
  • Experience producing instructional videos, documentaries, and instructional media
  • Demonstration of advanced design and layout techniques, both animated, video, and still image
  • Ability to multitask effectively, prioritize competing demands, and meet tight timelines while maintaining quality
  • Proven skill in working independently with subject matter experts, preferably faculty in higher education
  • Experience building out standards, templates, prototypes, and development processes
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be able to travel to multiple campuses and site locations
  • Must be able to lift up to 44lbs (e.g., video camera, lighting, and recording equipment)
