Position Description

The Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine is currently seeking an Instructional Designer to join our team of professionals.

Duties Include:

  • Collaborates with the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine (HWCOM) faculty and Subject Matter Experts in the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of high-quality learning and training materials. Conducts needs assessment of curriculum and training material and identifies new development needs.
  • Provides recommendations regarding all aspects of the course design and development process, including content management utilizing the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine's (HWCOM's) CanvasMed Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Coordinates and collaborates with leadership to identify appropriate workflow and priorities for supporting the college's curriculum and training needs.
  • Creates supporting instructional materials and multimedia in support of curriculum and college-wide training (videos, infographics, training guides, simulations, role-playing, games, etc.)
  • Creates, maintains, and facilitates training on the use of software, hardware, and peripheral devices as related to educational technology for the benefit of HWCOM faculty, staff, and students. Acts as a resource for technology applications in the classroom and online.
  • Troubleshoots on both the technical and operational side of educational technology-based programs for HWCOM.
  • Stays abreast of emerging trends and incorporates scholarly research and best practices which promote meaningful learning and facilitate the effective integration of educational technology.
  • Performs related duties as required or as directed. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and five (5) years of experience in a related field; or a Master's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and three (3) years of experience in a related field.

Desired Qualifications

  • Advanced experience designing and developing web-based, interactive instructional materials using authoring software such as Articulate 360 (Storyline, Rise), Captivate, Camtasia, etc.
  • Prior experience designing instructional graphics using software such as SnagIt, Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop).
  • Knowledge of User Interface and Experience (UX) design methodology.
  • Working knowledge of visual communication and design principles.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and visual communication skills.
  • Experience facilitating and supporting the integration of technology in both online and in-person learning environments.
  • Ability to influence and collaborate well with all levels of stakeholders throughout the College of Medicine and the university community.

Advertised Salary

Starting at $60,000
