Responsibilities

The Interactive Instructional Design Consultant provides consultation to subject matter experts (SME) to conceptualize, design, develop, deliver, and assess digital learning content. The Interactive Instructional Design Consultant will design and produce interactive learning content.

  • Consults with SME and project teams to develop interactive learning content in a variety of formats including videos, infographics, games, and quizzes.
  • Develops SCORM compliant interactive eLearning modules built in Articulate Storyline and Rise.
  • Creates graphic assets, edited audio materials, and develops copy for interactive modules.
  • Collaborates with other Instructional Designers and Content Development Team to calculate project hours, assign roles, and determine project timelines.
  • Provides pedagogical consultation services to SME including, but not limited to, coaching, mentoring, and encouraging online teaching, learning best practices, and FIU Online quality and cost initiatives.
  • Establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with instructors, serving as a key source of information on best practices for instructional design, FIU Online initiatives, and advancing excellence in online teaching.
  • Maintains various distance learning courses on a regular basis and lends support to instructors.
  • Creates and facilitates training for stakeholders on instructional design practices and theory, development processes, and emerging uses of available tools or resources.
  • Responds to course portfolio requests and performs service recovery in a timely manner.
  • Maintains functional competency with media design and creation skills, LMS tools, and associated educational technologies to perform assigned duties.
  • Regularly delivers timely communications and project updates to the Content Production Manager.
  • Facilitates training for stakeholders on instructional design practices and theory, development processes, and emerging uses of available tools or resources.
  • May supervise lower-level staff.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:       

Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and five (5) years of experience in a related field; or a Master's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and three (3) years of experience in a related field.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Expert knowledge of instructional design principles
  • Expert Knowledge of learning content authoring tools
  • Prior experience working with subject matter experts to develop curriculum and design distance learning courses.
  • Ability to learn and utilize new software.
  • Advanced knowledge of principles of visual design.
  • Advanced knowledge of media design and educational technology.
  • Skilled in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
  • Prior experience designing interactive learning modules
  • Certificate or Graduate Degree in Instructional/Curriculum Design
