SoGoSurvey shines when it comes to flexibility and data presentation. The platform allows you to create just about any type of question imaginable, from simple multiple-choice to more complex matrix or logic-based formats. It gives you creative control over how to structure surveys, which makes it ideal for projects that require tailored data collection.
What do you dislike?
While SoGoSurvey performs exceptionally well overall, compatibility can be an issue when dealing with older file formats or legacy systems. Importing older data sometimes requires extra steps, and maintaining updates or managing software licenses can take time. For larger organizations, scheduling regular updates and ensuring compatibility with older databases may need additional IT oversight

What do you like best?
SoGoSurvey is a well-rounded tool that’s easy to navigate and packed with features useful for both business and research purposes. Even as a new user, I found it intuitive to set up surveys, combine multiple questionnaires, and analyze data efficiently. One of the standout features is its ability to automatically transpose data, which saves a huge amount of manual effort during analysis.
What do you dislike?
The mobile experience could use some refinement. When accessing surveys or managing projects on a phone, the layout shifts and requires a lot of scrolling to find the right buttons, which makes navigation less smooth. Another downside is the annual billing model. As a student, I would have preferred a monthly payment option since paying for a full year upfront can be difficult.

What do you dislike?

What do you like best?
SoGoSurvey has been a huge help in managing my academic research projects. I can design surveys exactly the way I need them without feeling limited by the tool. The wide range of question types, from multiple-choice and rating scales to open-ended questions and advanced logic paths, gives me full control over how I collect and structure responses. I also love the clean, professional interface that makes my surveys look polished and easy to navigate for participants.
What do you dislike?
There’s very little to dislike, though I think students and first-time users might benefit from a few more pre-built templates tailored to academic research. While the customization options are excellent, a few quick-start templates could help speed up setup for simpler studies or small projects. Additionally, it might take some time to explore all the advanced logic and reporting features, but once you do, they work beautifully.

SogoSurvey has been an excellent experience for conducting student surveys and academic research. Signing up and getting started takes no time, with a minimum learning curve. I especially appreciate that there’s enough variety of question types and branching, even at the free level, to run complex surveys.
What do you dislike?
On the negative side, the system can become slow or unresponsive if multiple respondents enter the survey simultaneously, which may lead to increased errors. Additionally, although the free-centered model is very generous for students, it’s not difficult to encounter limits (response caps or advanced features turned off) if you attempt to scale up. It appears that the complimentary credits are well-suited for smaller projects, but may not be a good fit for larger studies over time.

However, upgrading to higher-tier plans can get costly for small organizations or solo researchers on a budget. Some critical capabilities, like advanced branching or more generous response thresholds, are locked behind pricier packages, which makes the tool less appealing for casual or occasional use.

SogoSurvey, serving survey makers and respondents since 2005, is my go-to tool for creating fast surveys and gathering simple data. You can quickly and efficiently create a survey, distribute it, and collect responses in real-time. The export and reporting tools provide clean, efficient data that I can plug into my own spreadsheets or share with my team.
What do you dislike?
However, when I tried to build more complex surveys involving branching or conditional logic, I realized the logic engine is somewhat simplistic; logic can only be tied to single questions, and more advanced conditional flows are more complex to set up or are missing. For intricate survey paths or complex response-dependent branching, I had to work around limitations or simplify my questionnaire.

Its benefits, such as unlimited surveys (within certain limitations), multiple question types, and export capabilities, mean that even small teams can collect valuable feedback without incurring high costs.
What do you dislike?
That being said, as you attempt to scale beyond simple surveys or conduct intensive data collection from a large number of participants, limitations become apparent. Response limits and plan restrictions make it less suitable for larger projects, not to mention the limited enterprise-grade integrations. The interface can be overwhelming, especially when working with numerous forms or complex workflows.

What do you dislike?
Some of the more advanced features, such as in-depth customization of email notifications or branching logic between different questions, feel somewhat restrictive unless you opt for a paid plan.
