What is Litmos?

In the AI era, human capability building will be required on a scale that hasn't been seen before. Most companies are ill equipped for this scale of human reinvention. The winners are building organizations that learn, adapt, and operationalize new human capabilities faster than the competition.

AI compresses time and turns capabilities into perishable assets. Organizations face an unprecedented mandate to retrain, upskill, and adapt their workforce, partner ecosystems, and customer bases at a speed most L&D functions were never built to support.

Most learning platforms weren't built for this. They are complex to configure, manual to manage, disconnected from workflows, and limited beyond employees. Leaders lack visibility into readiness. Managers have no signals into who is ready or stuck. Admins spend their time on administration, not acceleration. Learners take training that feels disconnected from their actual work.

The winning strategy is not deploying more AI models or automating more processes. It is building organizations that learn, adapt, and operationalize new human capabilities faster than the competition. The new imperative is Learning Acceleration. The organizations already embracing it are getting results.

Litmos is the Learning Acceleration Platform — building human capability in the AI era across Workforce, Partners, and Customers. Infused with decades of real-world experience and best practices. Day 1 Impact through a proven path to the fastest value.

Reviews

Is Litmos the right solution for you? Read verified Litmos reviews from people in industries like yours to make a confident choice.

Pros
  • Ease of Use & Navigation Reviewers overwhelmingly praise the platform's accessibility for all user tiers. They noted it is "very user-friendly for both administrators and end users" and highlighted its "clean, intuitive interface [that] simplifies navigation and course management."
  • Customer Support & Service The Litmos team receives high marks for being "responsive, knowledgeable, and always professional." Users specifically called out the "managed admin services team" for being flexible and taking the time to educate in-house teams.
  • Implementation & Onboarding Transitioning to the software is described as efficient and pain-free. One administrator noted that "from setup to implementation everything ran smoothly," including migrating "tons of learner data from our previous LMS."
  • Feature Set & Functionality Reviewers valued the platform's robust feature set, highlighting "integrations with other systems via APIs enabling us to automate a large number of our processes," flexible assessment tools, and automated reminders.
  • User Experience & Engagement The built-in engagement tools are highly effective at driving completion rates. Administrators reported that the platform's "gamification elements have significantly increased learner engagement and accountability" across their teams.
Cons
  • Reporting & Analytics Issues Data extraction and analysis present major hurdles. Multiple users noted that the reporting functionality challenges their organization, with one explaining, "We typically export Litmos data and use another platform with stronger reporting capabilities."
  • Customization Limitations Making large-scale adjustments to permissions or content can feel rigid. Reviewers complained that "custom permissions are inflexible," advanced customization requires complex support, and updating certificate templates at scale requires tedious manual edits to each individual course.
  • Complexity & Learning Curve While basic usage is simple, deeper administration requires advanced knowledge. One user stated it "felt like you need to know coding to be able to fully use the software to its full potential," while another noted that admin tasks become "cumbersome at scale" for large teams.
  • Performance or Reliability Issues Technical glitches occasionally disrupt the experience. Reviewers cited experiencing "frequent lag and login issues," a lack of precision in interactive screen click tests, and formatting bugs where "certain design features don't render pictures well."
  • Cost & Add-ons Long-term budget scalability is an issue for expanding organizations. Reviewers noted that "pricing escalates quickly, especially with the course library," and that advanced customization features often "incur extra costs."

Easy for learners and doesn't create extra work for admins

What do you like best? The learner experience is probably my favorite part of Litmos. We have employees who aren't particularly tech savvy and they rarely need help finding their assigned training. From the admin side, assigning courses and tracking completions is also fairly straightforward.
What do you dislike? Reporting could be more flexible. We can get most of the information we need, but sometimes I still end up exporting data and working with it outside the LMS.

What do you like best? I appreciate how much of the repetitive admin work can be automated. Enrollments, reminders and recurring compliance assignments used to take up a surprising amount of our time. Now most of that happens without us having to think about it.
What do you dislike? It takes a little while to understand all of the automation options and make sure you've configured them correctly. Once they're working though, they're very useful.

What do you like best? I've been using the AI features to help build internal training and they've sped up the first draft considerably. I can start with an objective, generate a structure and then edit the content rather than starting with a completely blank page.
What do you dislike? The generated material definitely still needs a human review. It's a good starting point rather than something I would publish immediately.

What do you like best? We have employees in several countries and Litmos gives us one place to manage training without making the experience complicated for learners. Being able to access courses from different devices is particularly helpful for people who aren't sitting at a desk all day.
What do you dislike? Managing a large and growing course library requires some discipline. Better tools for bulk updates would make life easier for our administrators.

What do you like best? Our onboarding used to involve a lot of emails and people manually checking whether new hires had completed everything. We now have the majority of it running through Litmos. Employees know what they need to complete and managers have much better visibility.
What do you dislike? The initial setup took us some time because we had a lot of existing material to organize and migrate. Once everything was in place, ongoing administration became much easier.

What do you like best? We use Litmos heavily for annual compliance and certification training. Automatic assignments and reminders have taken a lot of manual follow-up away from our HR team. It's also much easier to see who is overdue compared with the spreadsheets we used before.
What do you dislike? Some administrative tasks could be completed in fewer steps, especially when making changes across a large number of courses.

What do you like best? We use learning paths to group courses by role instead of giving employees a huge catalog and expecting them to decide what to take. It gives people a much clearer progression and has also made onboarding into new roles easier.
What do you dislike? I'd like more flexibility when analyzing performance across an entire learning path. Course-level information is useful, but sometimes we want a higher-level picture.

What do you like best? The ability to connect Litmos with other systems was a major factor in our decision. We don't want the LMS operating as an island. User information and training data can fit into the systems our HR and business teams are already using.
What do you dislike? Some integrations are much easier to configure than others. For the more complicated ones we needed assistance from IT during implementation.

What do you like best? We've used Litmos for several different training programs and it handles the fundamentals very well: onboarding, compliance, professional development and tracking certifications. It's also scalable enough that we haven't had to rethink the platform as our learner numbers increased.
What do you dislike? My biggest request would be improvements to reporting and bulk administration. Neither is a deal breaker, but both would save experienced admins quite a bit of time.

What do you like best? We originally implemented Litmos for internal training but have since started using it with customers too. Having both programs managed from the same platform is much easier than maintaining separate learning systems.
What do you dislike? Once you start serving several different audiences, administration naturally becomes more complex. I'd like even more control over how we manage and separate those experiences.

Last, but certainly not least, Litmos Training Content has made a great impression on our L&D team. What’s more, you can deliver this online content library to your users easily and effectively.

Pros/Cons Of Litmos Training

Litmos Training is a great cloud-based Learning Management Software. Its flexibility and UI simplicity will make things easy for your L&D team. What I liked most was having the ability to generate training reports quickly. Tracking your learners' progress is truly top-notch.

What I like about Litmos is that they continue to add new features and products. For instance, they recently added services and programs which are great for video training. When designing a training course you can create hyperlinks to other sites as well. This is useful for companies that face different regulations for outside training.

You can use short videos to support your organization's training programs. The addition of instructor-led functionality is also exceptional. I also enjoyed the available courses in the Litmos Training Content product. There is so much off-the-self training material that can support any company’s needs. The ability to upload documents and certifications adds great value.

Obviously, the pros make Litmos Training an ideal learning management solution. My only concern is that some features are not included in the subscription plan, which means that you need to add them as extra. Though, if your L&D team knows what kind of features they need, they can decide later to extend the system’s functionality.

User Satisfaction

Our Learning and Development team enjoyed how easy it was to set up Litmos Training LMS. The implementation, as well as the User Experience of this software, bring satisfaction, both from an administrator and a learner perspective. It helps a lot that it is structured with a role-based login. I loved the fact that its User Interface was responsive.

Litmos Training LMS is a very user-friendly system that also comes with a lot of great features. It offers solutions if you need to automate complex processes and makes publishing content fun and easy. Custom reporting and API support make Litmos Training even more powerful.

Such an LMS is a great solution if you want to avoid the high cost of travel for in-person training. In case you had an inability to onboard new employees quickly, Litmos Training is what you need to get your training started in no time.

Litmos Training is going to put an end to any challenges you might have with an existing (or previously used) learning platform that was hard to roll out and hard to use. As mentioned plenty of times in this LMS review, Litmos Training’s ease of use and fast implementation will bring you a good ROI in less time than expected.

Plus, you no longer have to worry about the lack of content needed to quickly go-live.

Its out-of-the-box library of courses and fully mobile functionality will be of great value to your business.

Litmos Training has a true focus on learning, and it is compatible with multiple, well-known third-party systems. I am looking forward to a multiple domain addition and  maybe some more customization options for reporting.

Customer Support

Litmos offers customer support 24/7. I have to say that Litmos' customer service is friendly and competent. During the trial period, we needed assistance on how to use the integration between Litmos Training and Salesforce. They helped us through the whole process with no issues.

Their support team deals with matters professionally and keeps good communication standards. Even if something urgent comes up, they’ll make a suggestion and a work-around solution. Whatever the case, they’ll try to resolve the issue quickly.
