Pros
  • Ease of Use & Navigation Reviewers overwhelmingly praise the platform's accessibility for all user tiers. They noted it is "very user-friendly for both administrators and end users" and highlighted its "clean, intuitive interface [that] simplifies navigation and course management."
  • Customer Support & Service The Litmos team receives high marks for being "responsive, knowledgeable, and always professional." Users specifically called out the "managed admin services team" for being flexible and taking the time to educate in-house teams.
  • Implementation & Onboarding Transitioning to the software is described as efficient and pain-free. One administrator noted that "from setup to implementation everything ran smoothly," including migrating "tons of learner data from our previous LMS."
  • Feature Set & Functionality Reviewers valued the platform's robust feature set, highlighting "integrations with other systems via APIs enabling us to automate a large number of our processes," flexible assessment tools, and automated reminders.
  • User Experience & Engagement The built-in engagement tools are highly effective at driving completion rates. Administrators reported that the platform's "gamification elements have significantly increased learner engagement and accountability" across their teams.
Cons
  • Reporting & Analytics Issues Data extraction and analysis present major hurdles. Multiple users noted that the reporting functionality challenges their organization, with one explaining, "We typically export Litmos data and use another platform with stronger reporting capabilities."
  • Customization Limitations Making large-scale adjustments to permissions or content can feel rigid. Reviewers complained that "custom permissions are inflexible," advanced customization requires complex support, and updating certificate templates at scale requires tedious manual edits to each individual course.
  • Complexity & Learning Curve While basic usage is simple, deeper administration requires advanced knowledge. One user stated it "felt like you need to know coding to be able to fully use the software to its full potential," while another noted that admin tasks become "cumbersome at scale" for large teams.
  • Performance or Reliability Issues Technical glitches occasionally disrupt the experience. Reviewers cited experiencing "frequent lag and login issues," a lack of precision in interactive screen click tests, and formatting bugs where "certain design features don't render pictures well."
  • Cost & Add-ons Long-term budget scalability is an issue for expanding organizations. Reviewers noted that "pricing escalates quickly, especially with the course library," and that advanced customization features often "incur extra costs."

What do you like best? SAP Litmos covers the essentials: course creation, mobile access, assessments, and strong integration options. Reporting tools are solid, and the platform supports scalable deployment. It's functional across devices and offers useful automation for large teams.
What do you dislike? The platform has become harder to navigate after recent updates. Custom permissions are inflexible and time-consuming to configure. Frequent lag and login issues hurt the user experience. Access to original SCORM files is blocked, which limits content control. Pricing escalates quickly, especially with the course library, which is raising serious concerns about long-term cost-efficiency.

What do you like best? We’ve been using Litmos for over seven years, and it has consistently served us well as a professional LMS.
What do you dislike? While Litmos is a strong platform, there are some areas where it could improve. Access to raw data is limited, making it impossible to download SCORM files from specific modules.

Uploading and embedding videos is seamless, and the results look professional without requiring extra effort. The platform’s adaptability makes content creation and integration very smooth.
What do you dislike? The main area for improvement would be the scoring accuracy in interactive screen click tests, which could be more precise.

What do you like best? Our experience with Litmos as a healthcare organization has been outstanding. The platform is robust yet user-friendly, making training processes smooth and efficient. The clean, intuitive interface simplifies navigation and course management for both instructional designers and managers.
What do you dislike? The main drawback is the lack of a comprehensive library of medically specific, CEU-accredited courses, which are vital for our licensed clinicians.

The platform makes it easy to build and upload training content, and its assessment tools offer a variety of question formats that allow for more effective knowledge checks. One of the most valuable features is the ability to generate performance reports that compare course completion with assessment outcomes, helping us better understand learner progress and training effectiveness.

What do you like best? From an HR and L&D perspective, it has supported the centralization of learning and helped improve engagement and retention through accessible features. The Creator Community has been particularly helpful for peer insights and troubleshooting, and the ability to build custom reports has added value in tracking learner progress and meeting compliance requirements.
What do you dislike? The absence of a bulk upload function for external learning significantly increases manual workload, especially when recording company-wide training events or conference participation. The admin dashboard interface is outdated and lacks the intuitiveness seen in more modern platforms.

What do you like best? Litmos is a professional-grade LMS that offers a broad range of industry-standard features to support enterprise-level learning initiatives. Course creation is efficient, and the ability to incorporate varied content types, such as videos and SCORM files—enhances the learning experience.
What do you dislike? There are notable limitations around data access and customization. For example, we are unable to extract original SCORM files from modules, and managing custom fields can be cumbersome. The system does not currently allow tracking of certification exam attempts during renewals, which impacts reporting accuracy.
